Dr. Groth has always believed that great dentistry starts with great education. The Groth Dental internship program gives aspiring dental professionals a rare opportunity to learn the craft from the inside, in a practice that holds itself to the highest standard.

A Yearlong Program Built for Future Dentists

Dr. Groth's commitment to teaching predates Groth Dental itself. As a swim coach and former Adjunct Clinical Faculty member at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, he has spent years investing in the next generation of dental professionals. In 2018 he formalized that commitment by launching an internship program designed specifically for recent college graduates preparing for dental school.

Over the course of a year, interns work alongside Dr. Groth and the Groth Dental team, gaining hands-on experience as dental assistants while learning what it takes to run a high-performing dental practice. From clinical fundamentals to patient communication to administrative operations, the program offers a complete picture of what exceptional dental care looks like from the inside out.

This immersive experience equips interns with a holistic understanding of dental practice operations and the collaborative effort required to deliver exceptional patient care. Upon completion, interns depart Groth Dental armed with a solid foundation in dentistry, patient interaction, and effective teamwork.

When I first started at Groth Dental, I knew very little about dentistry. I had no idea what was in store for me, but I knew I had found a passionate and inspired teacher in Dr. Kevin. He didn’t hesitate to take me under his wing and share so many invaluable lessons not only about patient care, but also cultivating a good team atmosphere and implementing your personal and professional goals. The lessons I learned have stuck with me throughout my time in dental school and shaped how I now approach patient care. One of the most crucial lessons Dr. Kevin taught me is the importance of comprehensive, individualized dental care, including taking the time to understand why something happened so that we can prevent it in the future. Patient-centered care is now at the forefront of my values and directs my decisions as a student dentist.
