Common Dental Emergencies and What to Do
Do not suffer through dental pain when help is available. Dr. Groth and our team are equipped to address a wide range of urgent dental concerns. Here is what to do if you experience one before you arrive:
Broken Tooth: Collect any broken pieces and bring them to your appointment. Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek to manage pain and reduce swelling.
Knocked-Out Tooth: Handle the tooth by the crown only, never the root, and store it in milk, saltwater, or saliva. Bring it with you and call us immediately for the best chance of saving it.
Loose or Lost Crown: If your crown has come loose, try securing it temporarily with a small amount of dental cement or toothpaste until you can be seen.
Toothache: Rinse your mouth thoroughly with warm water and apply an ice pack to the outside of your cheek to reduce swelling and discomfort until your appointment.
